Alcoholism addiction ” Stop The Agony

November 27, 2019

There is no end to the suffering an alcoholic can tolerate to keep the booze running. Loss of family, job, home and health can be blamed on others and bad luck. These are frequently very intelligent people, men and women that are frequently wonderfully gifted. Try as they might, though, they cant stop drinking. Depression and self loathing are now added to the deadly emotional brew within them.

If you suffer from over drinking or you suffer because a loved one drinks, you are not alone. Support groups of all kinds are there for you. Remember that there is security in numbers. Just knowing that others feel just like you is a wonderful tool. One common denominator in drunks is that the more often they try and fail to quit and the more they are pushed or coaxed into trying, the less their chance of success. It is part of the disease of alcoholism and partly human nature. They also need support groups.

Support groups will tell you not to try to control anyone. A drunk should try to deal with his or her own issues. The victims of drunks should focus on the damage done them and what they can do about it. What you resist persists. These groups will help you get rid of resentments, anger and shame which are the hallmarks of alcoholism addiction.. They can be living examples of living happy, joyous and free.

You might be saying, Well, I don’t buy into all that God stuff I heard about. There are many programs that never mention god. If there is a prayer that you might want to try on for size (in case the damn things work), it is this one: God, if you exist and if you are listening, please keep me sober today. Try it, you might like it. Anyway, what could it hurt?

You have the right to happiness and security. Pursue them, whatever the cost both in money terms and emotional pain.

Dreams, happiness and joy are your birthrights. Go after them with all you’ve got. Pay the emotional price and live.
